According to preliminary reports, at 9:30 am on Thursday, an explosion and shooting at a southeastern port of Chabahar near the Pakistani border are heard.

 According to security officials, the blast was caused by a car bombing at the police headquarters in Chabahar, Sistan and Baluchestan.

There have been reported casualties in the blast, two of them confirmed, and a number of shopkeepers and pedestrians have been injured. Subsequent reports were denied that the Chabahar police chief was one of the casualties.
The Iranian Red Crescent Society's relief and rescue organization has completed 35 injured and confirmed the death of four people. The head of the Chabahar Healthcare Center also said a pregnant woman and a 16-year-old teenager are among the injured.
According to the deputy governor of Chabahar, a suicide bomber in a Nissan voyage intended to attack the local police in Chabahar, but was stopped by police officers at the front door and exploded explosives packed in the car. The terrorist was killed in a blast.
Major General Mohammad Pourpour, the IRGC Ground Force, who is also on the scene of the terrorist attack, said the attack was carried out blindly and has no result for the terrorists.
He regretted that a number of guards who were at the gate opposite the police were killed or wounded in the blast.
Chabahar deputy for political affairs and security has said two policemen, Dariush Ranjbar and Naser Dazdeq, have been killed in a blast and three others have been injured. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, he said, adding that after a thorough examination, the various aspects of the attack will soon be clear. He continued that the situation is under control.
Subsequent reports indicate that the Ansar al-Furqan terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
